Our Purpose:

Climate Change – The Current Landscape:

Global climate change stands as an urgent environmental concern, demanding immediate attention. This shift brings about perilous weather phenomena, erratic climate variations, inundations, forceful gusts, torrential downpours, hails, and prolonged droughts, inflicting considerable ecological and economic harm globally. Recent data from the World Meteorological Organisation indicates that the previous three years rank as the hottest in recorded history. The erratic nature of weather patterns jeopardizes food sources, and the swelling sea levels escalate natural disaster threats.

Human Impact and Climate Change:

As per the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, research emphasizes that the climate alterations from the late 1800s are majorly driven by human-induced activities. Only a third can be attributed to natural fluctuations, while the remaining is due to human activities, especially the surge in greenhouse gas concentrations.

Adapting to Change:

Adapting to global climate change means recalibrating both natural and human frameworks to mitigate potential or real climate effects, minimizing adversities while capitalizing on beneficial prospects. In the 2015 Paris accord, global leaders unified to contain the global temperature escalation to well beneath 2°C by the century’s close and endeavored to restrict it to 1.5°C.

Advocacy and Current Trends:

2019 emerged as a hallmark year for climate change activism, witnessing millions of students globally rallying under the “Fridays for the Future” banner, demanding urgent climate action. Yet, the collective efforts to temper global warming fall short. The United Nations notes that instead of maintaining the 1.5°C cap set by the 2015 Paris Agreement, we are steering towards a 3.2°C rise by 2100. Concurrently, greenhouse emissions persistently rise, with the major 20 emitting nations – responsible for roughly 78% of total emissions – lagging in transformative adaptations.

Carbon Neutrality and Corporate Engagement:

Presently, a mere 121 nations, constituting less than a quarter of global emissions, have vowed to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Notably absent from this list are the top five emitting countries. Even within these committed nations, a scant few have introduced potent policies to realize their pledges. On the corporate front, only a fraction transparently report their emissions, and an even smaller segment aligns their mitigation strategies with the Paris Agreement. While the investment sector begins to acknowledge the weight of climate-associated threats, a significant portion remains tethered to short-term gains. The amplified effects of unchecked climate change will inevitably demand amplified adaptation efforts and resources in the future.

ECO Guardians Organization Mission:

To proactively confront and mitigate the pressing challenges of global climate change by fostering partnerships with national governments to streamline and enhance carbon emissions regulations.

Our Values:

  1. Scientific Foundation: Decisions and actions grounded in the latest scientific findings and research.
  2. Collaborative Action: Prioritizing partnerships with governments, businesses, and communities for collective impact.
  3. Transparency: Promoting open disclosure, especially in carbon emissions and environmental impact, across nations and businesses.
  4. Adaptive Strategy: Embracing flexibility in responding to the evolving challenges of climate change, with a focus on proactive adaptation.
  5. Inclusivity: Ensuring all sectors of society – from local communities to global entities – are informed, engaged, and active in the climate change conversation.
  6. Future Focus: Aiming for long-term solutions, not just short-term fixes, to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
